About Me
Hello everyone! My name is Lori Hoertel and I am from Rolla, Missouri. Rolla is a college town similar to Fulton, with a few thousand more people. It's not my favorite place in the world, but it is home. I have lived on a farm my entire life, and we have beef cows and chickens. With that being said, I am definitely not a "farm" type of person. I do enjoy playing with the chickens and cows though. They're pretty adorable. I am an elementary education major minoring in English. After college I would like to attend grad school somewhere (I have no idea on the destination yet.. I haven't even begun to look) and get my Master's in Special Ed. From there, I would like to find a job teaching elementary Special Ed. somewhere. I am currently a Junior in school. I really enjoy traveling, and have been fortunate enough to have traveled many places. My grandma took my cousins, my sister and me on trips when we were younger. Our very first trip was to Hermann, Missouri, to celebrate our German heritage. From that year on, we took a trip every summer. Next, we went to Chicago, Washington D.C., we had planned to go to England, but this trip was planned very soon after 9/11 and international travel did not sound very appealing so we went back to Chicago, then went to England, Boston, Philadelphia, and Connecticut. I am very fortunate to have gone on all of these trips. I would love to go to Europe again someday, and I would especially love to go to Italy and Rome. This summer I am working at my dad's law office in the mornings, and nannying in the afternoons ( in the morning the girl I nanny is in summer school). After summer school ends, I will be a full-time nanny until I return to school. I enjoy nannying, but I already miss school quite a bit, and am counting down the days until I return. Fun fact about me, I am left handed, and cannot snap my fingers. I played T-ball when I was younger, and my coach thought it was too difficult to teach me how to play left-handed, so he forced me to learn everything right-handed. I still write with my left hand, but use my right hand for most other things. I look forward to getting to know everyone in our class. :)

I find it interesting that you are ambidextrous in a way. I'm sure that can be very helpful at times! And I have never been to Rolla, but I know people going to Missouri S&T, and they absolutely love it.
ReplyDeleteTraveling with your grandma sounds like so much fun. I went to New York City with my grandma when I was in 4th grade - what a blast. Not as fun as going to Europe with my mom in high school, though.
ReplyDeleteI think it is so strange that so many people have an aversion to left-handedness. It seems like it could be an advantage sports..I know it is in volleyball! It is cool that you have the ability to use both of your hands for things, though. My left hand is completely useless.
